The Day Share New Single ‘Empty’
Antwerp and Hamburg-based dream-pop duo The Day have just shared their brand new single Empty, a driving indie/alternative song out now via Sinbus.
I am really enjoying the smooth, expressive vocals and how they give a soft touch to the lively production. Empty is a song about disillusionment and exhaustion over the mistakes made regarding issues like climate crisis, social injustice or even the pandemic. This message is wrapped around a contrasting euphoric production with punchy drums, soaring guitar riffs, bright synths and a memorable bridge. I am very fond of the chorus and how the song is packed with energy, yet sounding great for a chill, summer's road trip. Check it out below!
On the motivation for Empty, The Day elaborate:
There's so much that needs to be done. So much that needs to change for this world. And then we always come up against limits and glass ceilings. Just one example: The incredible number of young activists of Fridays For Future are denied relevance and competence, because of their age, or because of the most bizarre accusations. Important and large protests are trivialized until they no longer seem to carry any weight. We need to do much more. We need to listen much more to the youth, to the new generation!
