Meet Me in Orbit Share New Single ‘Slip Away’

San Francisco-based synth-pop duo Meet Me in Orbit, consisting of Jared Brannan and Brandon Bews, have just shared their brand new single Slip Away, a song about desperately yearning for something.

I am really enjoying those smooth, expressive vocals that perfectly capture the feeling of yearning, instantly drawing my attention to their relatable storytelling. Slip Away is a polished synth-pop song about wanting something but having no idea of what it is. I personally relate to this song as I am someone that yearns for something but I have no idea what it is, I just feel that there is something missing. This message is wrapped around an infectious production packed with lush, expansive synths nicely intertwined with punchy percussion with some cool retro vibes. The warm production beautifully backs the emotive vocals and creates an overall warm, dreamy atmosphere perfect for an introspective day at home with one's thoughts. Check it out below!

The duo says on the track,

With 'Slip Away,' we wanted to explore the claustrophobia of desperately yearning for something, but having no clear sense of what that thing is. It’s a song about the ways we tend to craft our inner-dialogue around autobiographies that are themselves constructed of little lies and self-deceptions. In the end, that’s what nostalgia itself is--the overwhelming desire to go back to a time and place that never really existed in the form we’re yearning for.
