Like its predecessor, They Should Be Terrified Of You, beautiful words perfectly showcases Manic Pixie's smooth, breathy vocals which effortlessly connect the listeners to her storytelling. beautiful words is a song about escapism and is wrapped around a warm, lo-fi pop-tinged indie production packed with warm guitar plucks nicely intertwined with rich drum beats. While reading some of my favorite books, I started a note on my phone titled "beautiful words" where I could list some of my favorite beautiful quotes. After revisiting it a couple of times to add more, I began to see the little quotes as lyrics I could use. So I wrote a song about escapism using two of my favorite book quotes, which are featured in the song.
