Gal Musette Shares New Single ‘Summertime’

Gal Musette, the moniker of indie-folk singer and songwriter Grace Freeman, has just shared her brand new single Summertime, the latest single to be taken from her upcoming debut album, Backwards Lullaby, set to arrive in October.

As the titles implies, Summertime welcomes the warmer weather with an upbeat folk sound that I find quite captivating. I am a fan of her lovely vocals which soar beautifully over the warm production that blends folk and indie elements into an enthralling listening experience. I am really fond of the intricate guitars, layered vocals and a melody that becomes increasingly more complex throughout the song adding both a sense of joy and unfamiliarity to the already magical track. Even though the production and whole atmosphere of the song is quite soothing and blissful, the lyrics deal with a friendship falling apart.

Accompanying the release, Gal Musette has shared its official music video, directed by Autumn Palen, which beautifully embodies the song«s warm atmosphere. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Gal Musette said,

‘Summertime’ seems like a love song, but is actually about a friendship falling apart. It’s about that kind of friend you meet and immediately connect with on an intense level, then after a few months, you meet each other’s demons and your mutual perceptions of the friendship are shaken.
