kav Shares Debut Single ‘dissolve’

kav, the alias of London-based indie-folk singer and songwriter Pierce Kavanagh, has just shared his official debut single dissolve, a warm indie-folk song about the feelings and frustations that come in underachieving.

I am a fan of kav's rich, deep vocals which instantly make the song memorable and soar effortlessly over the expansive indie-folk production. kav's unflinchingly honest lyrics are beautifully backed by intricate guitar melodies that are nicely intertwined with steady percussion that create an overall warm and intimate atmosphere that enhances the emotion of his vocal delivery and storytelling. dissolve is a captivating and relatable song about all those feelings and frustration one goes through when underachiving and is wrapped around a memorable production that makes it perfect for an introspective or laid-back day at home. Speaking about the song, kav said,

The core of ‘dissolve’ is about processing feelings of shame and the frustrations that come in underachieving. I through-wrote it on an acoustic guitar on a Summers evening in May over lockdown, and only changed one or two lyrics since, so I guess it’s is a pretty good indication of how I was feeling at the time. The recording process was pretty smooth really, half of it was recorded in various studios and my sister, Poppy’s flat in London; and then bass and drums were tracked in Brooklyn.
