Kat Vokes Shares New Single ‘Welcome Home’

New York City-based award-winning composer, vocalist and pianist, Kate Vokes has just shared her brand new single Welcome Home, a mellow piece of Chamber Pop music.

I am really enjoying her gorgeous, evocative vocals and how they instantly command the listener's attention to her storytelling. I am very fond of the warm production that is packed with gorgeous acoustic guitar riffs beautifully intertwined with a lush string quartet which create the perfect atmosphere for her vocals to soar. I am also loving the song's dramatic- somewhat melancholic - and cinematic touch which makes it perfect for the soundtrack/end credits of a movie. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Kat Vokes said,

This song was written for the last scene and end credits of a short film by the same name, by director Eric Morton. It features the up-and-coming ATLYS string quartet, a quartet that is classically trained but plays a lot of contemporary commercial music, as well as guitarist Jeff Miles who is a staple in the NYC-jazz scene. It was written by award-winning film composer Kat Vokes, who is also featured as the vocalist. This was recorded fully remotely during the pandemic, with everyone in a different state! There is also an accompanying music video on the making of this track and the process of recording a filmscore remotely: .
