Her poppiest song so far, I Used To Be Fun was born from ROYAL's personal struggle with chronic illness. It also speaks a universal narrative on the parallels of living through a pandemic and how we all long for the days of independence, adventure and living life to its fullest. I am really enjoying how this message is wrapped around a memorable electro-pop production with a warm, expansive atmosphere that keeps me coming back to it over and over again. ROYAL's luscious vocals are definitely the star and I love the echoing and dreamy harmonies soaring over the upbeat production.
