Lu Wright Shares New Single ‘Lovely’ ft. Civil
London-based singer and songwriter Lu Wright has just shared her brand new single Lovely, a soul-drenched summer groove featuring British rapper and beatmaker Civil and produced by Jacob Page.
Lovely is the third track taken from Lu’s debut EP Notes To Self, set for release this May. I am a fan of Lu's velvet tones and how they glide effortlessly atop the dreamy soundscaped to shine a light on embracing a change of perspective to find your happy place. I am particularly fond of the funk bassline that is nicely layered with jazz-soaked harmonies and soothing strings which create a warm, sun-soaked atmosphere perfect for a carefree summer day. Civil's verse is quite memorable and gives the song a cool urban touch. I am also very fond of the song's overall feel-good atmosphere and I think you'll love it too. Check it out below!
Speaking about the song, Lu said,
Lovely represents a more positive me, looking back through my life. It’s far too easy to dwell on past mistakes and bad life choices, it's much harder yet far more rewarding to acknowledge your growth and proudly move forward. ‘Lovely’ is less of a song about overcoming hurdles and more of a change in perspective. Whilst the lessons I have learnt are now the foundations of me, I can't help but sympathise with those going through similar struggles without the benefit of hindsight.
