EVVAN Shares New Single ‘Wolf’
Alternative-Folk singer and songwriter EVVAN has just shared her brand new single Wolf, a hauntingly beautiful piece of music reminiscent of early Fleetwood Mac with a modern touch. The track is the second offering from the upcoming EP, Home, which will be released on April 30, 2021.
I am really enjoying EVVAN's rich, emotive vocals and how they instantly connect the listener to her storytelling. I am particularly fond of her haunting harmonies and how the production creates the perfect atmosphere for her storytelling to soar. Wolf is a song about trying to fit in with others but ending up being shunned for being different, thus becoming a lone wolf.
This message is wrapped around a polished indie-folk production with intricate acoustic guitar riffs beautifully intertwined with a snappy percussion, subtle piano chords and a booming bassline that makes this song quite an enthralling listening experience. Have a listen to this gem below!
Speaking about the song, EVVAN said,
I was fascinated by how their howls sound so musical and haunting. I thought it’d be interesting to set those howls to a melody. This evolved into a story about following the pack and trying to fit in, but in the end, being shunned for your differences and becoming the lone wolf. When I pose the question, ‘What will you do when the wolf comes out in you?,’ I’m asking, ‘Will you conform to the pack and their ways or will you look them in the eye and dare to be who you really are?’
