Sweetlove Shares New Single ‘Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead’ ft. The Heart Of

Los Angeles-based Americana singer and songwriter Sweetlove has just shared her brand new single Before The Devil Knows You're Dead, featuring New York-based singer and songwriter The Heart Of.

Co-written with The Heart Of and taken from Sweetlove’s upcoming EP, Goodnight, Lover, set to arrive on March 26th, Before The Devil Knows You're Dead is a tribute to the sweetness of a simpler time, as well as touching, heartfelt sendoff of a beloved soul. The song is a bittersweet piece of Americana-tinged Folk music about being thankful for having her best friend Matt in her life and a goodbye as he has passed away. 

Sweetlove is quite a gifted storyteller and singer, flawlessly conveying the emotions she went through. The intricate acoustic guitar melodies and steady percussion create a warm and intimate atmosphere that allows for her stunning vocal delivery and storytelling to soar. This song is pouring with honest, raw emotion making one easily feel each and every word she's singing about. The Heart Of's backing vocals in the chorus beautifully enhances the emotion of her storytelling and makes the song stand out even more.

Speaking about the song, Sweetlove said Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead was written,

 to send my dear friend Matt Linder into that sweet hereafter with a wind of love at his back. For the first 18 years of my life, until I went away to college, I spent just about every day with him - he was my first friend, my first crush, my first kiss. He was the most beautiful boy I ever saw, and I loved him dearly. Later in his life, he had trouble with mental illness, and getting proper treatment, and he passed away from not having good medical care. I felt really unraveled, like a piece of me had died too.
