ferdinant. Shares New Single ‘Soothe’

Dutch singer and songwriter ferdinant. has just shared his brand new single Soothe, the latest single to be taken from his Airplanes EP, set to arrive soon via Humming Records.

I am really enjoying his warm, smooth vocals and how they easily convey the emotion of his storytelling. Soothe is a melancholic ode to friendship, enhancing how precious a true friendship is and that we should take care of our friendships.

This relatable song is wrapped around an infectious indie-pop production by producing duo Kilian & Jo. I am particularly fond of the guitars, delicate piano chords and infectious beat that create quite a warm and hymnic atmosphere for his vocals and storytelling to soar.

Soothe is accompanied by a striking music video directed by Sarah Knüpfer which shows the singer jumping into ice cold water from 5m height. It symbolizes the inevitable struggle it sometimes takes to keep a good friendship alive. It was shot by trusted DOP Henk Otte on 16mm, giving it the cinematic details. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, ferdinant. said,

‘Be my brother, be another one to soothe me like no other.’ " I initially wrote this about a friend I did wrong, and wanted to put into words the feeling it gave me, and the feeling we should be sharing instead of what happened. Friendship is gold, you have to be careful, but things do go wrong. And then the only right thing to do for me is to own up to it and go and fucking fix it. I did by the way if you’re wondering, thick as thieves, and that just means the world to me.
