Crawford Mack Shares New Single ‘Skye’
British singer and songwriter Crawford Mack has just shared his brand new single Skye, the first release of a collection of twelve tracks, to be made available individually each month throughout the year.
I am loving his smooth vocals and how they infuse the song with a captivating touch of heart and emotion. Skye is an Americana-infused piece of Indie-Folk music with intricate acoustic guitar riffs effortlessly intertwined with lush strings and percussion which creates quite a warm and "earthy" atmosphere for his vocals and storytelling to soar. Skye is a personal tribute to the late Rick Taylor, the legendary session musician who worked with Elton John, Joe Jackson, Wham and The Spice Girls among others. Check out this lovely song below!
Speaking about Rick Taylor, Crawford Mack said,
I met Rick when he was the ‘guest soloist’ arranging a big band suite of music for NyJoS (National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland) which I was a member of at the time. He stayed up for endless hours writing and re-writing the music as he got to know all the individuals in the band better. He was an incredibly vivacious man who had an exceptionally encouraging spirit of music making at all levels. I never got to play ‘Skye’ to him as I was waiting until it was perfect, and he died whilst I was still recording. In tribute, I did play it in the aftermath of his funeral on the island.’
