Chords of Eve Share New Single ‘Butterfly Machine’

Texas-based band Chords of Eve, the brainchild of American multi-instrumentalist Atlas Cage and features a number of international female vocalists, have just shared their brand new single Butterfly Machine, the title track of their upcoming debut album set to arrive later this summer.

Chords of Eve sound is a captivating fusion of alt-pop, electro-pop, and trip hop elements which result in a sonority they describe as futuristic psych pop and Butterfly Machine is a perfect example of it. I am really enjoying the spacey keyboards and airy, ethereal-like vocals which soar over the chill, laid-back electronic production. The vocals are quite hypnotic and their dreamy vibe gave me a sense of calm and peace, allowing me to fully focus on the storytelling of seeking refuge from all the stress resulting from the current global pandemic. Speaking about their latest release, Atlas said,

‘Butterfly Machine, you make an ugly world pretty.” That line sums up the message behind this track. Butterfly Machine was written and recorded during a time when we all were under a huge amount of stress (Covid, politics, social unrest), and I found that sleep became a different kind of necessity that I longed for - a refuge that allowed me the peace to process all that was going on, and wake up in the morning and keep going. It is that nightly escape that lets us all come back to ourselves. In dreaming you can be yourself, feel more at ease. The world's problems don't go away, but our remarkably powerful and adaptive minds let us alchemize those problems into something different
