Duka Shares New Single ‘Broken’

Atlanta-based singer and songwriter Duka has just shared his brand new single Broken, a smooth piece of alternative, indie r&b music about fear of commitment.

I am loving Duka's honeyed, soulful vocals and how they are packed with so much emotion, easily making us feel each and every single word he sings. Broken is a relatable song about struggling to commit in a relationship for being afraid of lowering one's guard and be vulnerable. This message is wrapped around a smooth indie r&b production with an infectious beat that allows for Duka's vocals to soar. I am also very fond of the song's chill, laid-back atmosphere perfect for a relaxing day at home. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Duka said,

The song more or less describes me & my fear of commitment in a way that is simultaneously vulnerable & guarded. It unpacks the simple, typical “I’m scared” answer to the question of taking the next step in a relationship & provides reasons, yet, it’s clear that the reasons will never be enough to appease anyone on the other end of those words. I briefly allude to my father & explore his lack of presence as a reason for my fears. Unfortunately, my father died 4 days after I wrote this. So, while the song is short, I chose to keep it how it was before he passed to preserve that moment in time when he was still here.
