Long Island, pop R&B self-taught DJ, producer, singer and songwriter KUMA has just shared his brand new single That Something, a captivating piece of contemporary r&b about reflecting on past relationships and realising that there was something missing in them.
I am really enjoying KUMA's smooth and soulful vocals and how they soar over the infectious production. My favourite part has to be the acoustic guitar riff and how it is beautifully layered with heavy-bass and percussive elements that effortlessly back his smooth vocal delivery and heartfelt lyrics. That Something is a song about being in a relationship and realising that it was lacking that special something that is necessary to make a relationship work. Speaking about the song, KUMA said,
My vision for the song was to allow my listeners to feel my emotions and my pain through the lyrics. I wanted the beat to play a secondary role so that the listeners could really take in what I was saying. The lessons I'd hope others gain from listening is that a relationship is a team effort, not a solo undertaking and sometimes the thing that's missing just isn't tangible.
