Eighty Ninety Share New Single ‘Better as Friends’

Brooklyn-based indie-pop duo Eighty Ninety, consisting of brothers Abner (vocals, production) and Harper (guitar, production) James, are back with a gorgeous new single titled Better as Friends, a lush synth-pop gem.

I am a fan of Abner's smooth, ethereal-like vocals and how they are beautifully backed by an upbeat, retro-tinged production with bright synths, groovy guitars and lush percussion that remind me a bit of The 1975's sound.

Better as Friends is a captivating song about wanting to stay connected to someone you once loved - but how holding on to that feeling can be even more painful than letting it go. It's about the desire to live in the past rather than face the end, and how loving someone can mean wanting the best for them even if that no longer includes you.

This is such a relatable song and I am really enjoying how Eighty Ninety beautifully convey those feelings and experiences through an upbeat and memorable electro-pop production with lush vocals and infectious melodies. Check it out below!
