Courtney Paige Nelson Shares ‘Saved Myself’ Music Video

San Francisco-born singer and songwriter Courtney Paige Nelson has just shared the official music video for her revealing, yet empowering track Saved Myself.

Saved Myself is a personal song for Courtney and in the song she describes her experience on the other side of treatment for attempting to take her own life.

Speaking about the song, Courtney said,

I wrote ‘Saved Myself’ to explain how I was doing after treatment. I checked myself in with no support system. And, I checked out with no support system. I had to take charge of my mental health without anyone to lean on. This song is as deep as I could go. And, I want people to understand that having depression or PTSD or Discouraged BPD tendencies is normal. It’s just not talked about. My hope is that people hear my songs and my lyrics and feel less alone. This is an edgy pop track infused with touches of dark alt/R&B soundscapes and now it is given a visual treatment (produced and directed by Courtney) that feels perfect for the Halloween season, being quite dark and emotional. Check it out below!

Speaking about the video, Courtney Paige Nelson said,
The concept for the video was to highlight mental health and the way it makes people uncomfortable, especially when you admit going to get treatment. I wanted to make people feel un-easy when they watch the video, because that is the way people with mental health problems feel in the public eye. As you may know I am a huge advocate for mental health because I suffer from it. As an artist, my goal with everything I create is to make people think and feel deeper. So naturally with this video I did that. The Song 'Saved Myself' is about how I felt coming out of treatment. I had no support system and I had to go back into the real world with myself holding my own hand. I quite literally 'Saved Myself'. People were scared to come close to me when I got out. Assuming I was crazy, or fragile. It was a very dark time for me, and I had to be there for myself. I haven't had the easiest life, and this is just another chapter to add to my musical journey which I'm excited to share with everyone.
