We Are Gold Share New Single ‘Coconut Water’ ft. Tomi Saario
French production duo We Are Gold have just shared their brand new feel-good summer single Coconut Water, featuring Finnish pop singer-songwriter Tomi Saario, out now via RCA France/Sony Music.
If you find the song familiar it is because it's built around a sample of Spandau Ballet’s chart-topping classic True, and has received the seal of approval from the 80’s hitmakers. On Coconut Water, We Are Gold seamlessly blend the unmistakable melody with Tomi’s sleek vocals to create an infectious tropical 2020 homage to the iconic 1983 hit.
I am loving the song's feel-good energy, bright synths and tropical vibe that instantly transports me to a paradise beach in my own island, hehe. Have a listen to this gem below!
Speaking about the song, We Are Gold said,
The making of ‘Coconut Water’ was special. At first we had a song with a chord progression that was similar. The track had an 80’s vibe to it but we were stuck and didn’t know where to take it. It was missing something. We forgot about it for a while until we heard Spandau Ballet’s legendary ‘True’ again. That instantly gave us the idea to use the classic “Ah Ah Aaaah” sample and finish the song.
Tomi Saario added,
“When We Are Gold sent me a message asking if I could be a part of their new song featuring a sample of Spandau Ballet’s ‘True’, it was honestly a no brainer for me. I’ve always been a big fan of the original, so it was amazing to have this opportunity to make a summery track inspired by it and bring it to 2020," says Tomi.
