British singer and songwriter Katy for Kings has just shared her lovely debut single Words Around, a feel-good piece of soulful pop music.
Produced by John Strawberrius Fields, the track hits us with a vibe reminiscent of Corrine Bailey Rae, displaying Katy’s dulcet tones and soulful range throughout. Words Around screams a carefree, blissful summer day with vibrant and colourful surroundings and a feel-good atmosphere. Words Around is taken from Katy for Kings' upcoming debut EP, Novelty, set to arrive later this year, and speaking about it she said,
People are very quick to ask what your back up plan is when you tell them you want a career in music. It comes from a good place but it can be a real hit to your confidence on a bad day. I think this song is a good reflection of the mindset I’m working towards. Having it as a first release is like setting the bar for my future self, it’s all or nothing from here ya know?
