Dare Summer Shares New Single ‘Step Back’
British singer and songwriter Dare Summer has just shared her brand new single Step Back, a dramatic, retro-styled emotional pop song about being frustrated with all the injustices and absurdities of the world.

One can easily feel that anger and frustration through her passionate vocal delivery and I really like how she channels all this into a positive way of bringing about real change for the good. The whole production of the song gives me The Human League, Tears For Fears and Annie Lennox vibes, mostly thanks to its retro-tinged synth lines and driving beat. Loving how passionate and full of emotion her vocals sound and how explosive and dramatic the chorus is. I am a sucker for 80s-tinged synth lines with a driving rhythm and Step Back ticks all of those boxes for me. If you're into lush pieces of electro-pop music with gorgeous synths and a memorable chorus, then you'll love Step Back. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Dare Summer said,
I wrote Step Back a couple of years ago at a bit of a low point. I woke up one day in 2018 and realised that I'd spent much of the previous couple of years feeling such a palpable sense of anger at the injustices and absurdities of the world that I could barely concentrate on anything else. I didn't necessarily want to ignore it or even suppress it, rather to get to a place where I could transform the energy into something positive through music which would then ripple out. It became such a central focus of my life I felt like I could have written a book on it, hence the depiction of me reading a novel called Step Back in the illustrated single artwork! Fast forward two years and we just have to look at the events of the past month or so to see how intense anger at injustice channeled in a positive and inclusive way can bring about real change for the good. I tell the story with both words and music, bringing the song to a dramatic conclusion with powerful choral BVs symbolising unity and strength. I worked once again with producer Dean Marriott on this song and it is the second release of 2020 with more to come this year.
