I am really enjoying how Emily has crafted such a heartfelt and relatable story, perfectly conveying the emotions one has when missing someone we're very close to. Emily's distinctive vocals and emotive delivery soar effortlessly over the intricate acoustic guitar and mandolin melodies which create such a warm and intimate atmosphere that instantly draws the listener's attention to her storytelling. Having someone you're very close to moving far away is quite gut-wrenching and you just want them to come back because life won't be the same, but at the same time, you don't want to come between them and their dreams. Speaking about the song, Emily Winter said,
Home is pitched as a love song between two people who are in love but it is truly inspired from when my guitarist and co-writer moved to Stockholm and had to leave his best friend behind. We wrote it from his friends position and how it feels to be left alone when someone you're very close to are moving very far away. You want them so badly to come back but at the same time don't want to be an encumbrance of their dreams.
