Vienna-native and Hamburg-based producer / visual artist Alith Berndarn has teamed up with US-based singer/songwriter Kathana to deliver his brand new single Fountain of Youth.

This is quite a captivating piece of electronic music, beautifully mixing elements of Experimental, Future Bass with Pop sensibilities and instantly capturing my attention throughout this sonic experience.

Fountain of Youth starts with a mellow lo-fi chord progression, accompanied by Alith’s signature sounds (the chirping birds), and then it starts building up with uplifting FXS and Kathana's eery, yet intimate, vocal chops. Alith Berndarn is really a gifted artist as he creates such a soundscape that conveys both soothing and uplifting feelings, engulfing the listener into this mysterious world he created. The lyrics talk about appreciating life and cherishing the moments we have and they are beautifully backed by an intricate electronic production that sounds perfect for these days at home. I feel like this song is also perfect for introspection and as an introvert, I really like how it allows me to travel to this mysterious world he created with an overall laid-back, feel-good atmosphere. ….The track meaning/essence is that joy or the jubilation in life, in general, is the essence of staying young. In a time, where we do have potentially everything that we need to stay happy, it is the urge of wanting more that actually triggers the opposite. It is the want of “possessing more” than you actually need. The urge can be materialistic, it can be also the desire of being “loved” by people, who you really don’t need in your life to be/stay happy. The more you’re after these vapid things, the unhappier you get. Hence, don’t desire something that actually does the opposite to your psyche than anticipated.
