Sannia Unveils New Single ‘Better’
Emerging Melbourne singer and songwriter Sannia has just unveiled her brand new single Better, an indie pop song about starting to get better after a failed relationship.
I am really enjoying Sannia's emotive songwriting and her powerful vocals are instantly recognisable and packed with so much emotion, perfectly conveying the emotion of the lyrics. Better's swooping synth and drum loop are quite captivating and make the song stick to your head right after the very first listen.
Better is released alongside another single titled Daylight and both tell a story of unrequited love, being Better a direct response to Daylight's message. Striking music videos for both songs are out and you can check out the beautiful stories below!
Speaking about the songs Sannia said,
I started off by creating a drum loop, I wanted to push myself to write something bigger and more up-beat than my usual style and just wrote a melody to the drum loop with no chords and it actually sort of existed on a hard drive for a while until the middle of January where the chorus just sort of appeared in my brain like a headache and then within 4 hours the rest of the song was there. One of the reasons I wanted to release these two songs as an A and B side is I think that Better is a direct response to the vulnerability of Daylight, I sort of poke fun at the person I was when I wrote Daylight in the opening lines of Better, and the story sort of moves on from there. It’s a bit of a commentary about how I seem to have a great track record for being drawn to guys who either don’t notice I exist or are completely closed off emotionally, but the concept of getting better is actually directed inwards; I would be better off if I pulled back from that sort of love and took care of myself.
