Miley Cyrus releases break-up song ‘Slide Away’
Following the release of the striking, bold music video for her empowering female anthem Mother's Daughter, Miley Cyrus returns with a brand new song titled Slide Away.

This is a break-up song about people changing within a relationship and going in different directions and fans are quick to say it is about the end of her marriage with Liam Hemsworth. The timing is spot and the song can easily be heard as her message to what happened.

If we forget about that for a moment, Slide Away is a beautifully-written piece of music about not being what we used to be, about falling out of love, but still appreciating the time spent together. This song sounds like the end of a chapter for Miley as we can go back in her repertoire and relationship to the time of Wrecking Ball, when she sang about wanting Liam back, followed by Malibu which celebrates them getting back together and their love, to now Slide Away, the end of their relationship. People tend to change as they grow older, especially people in their 20s and Slide Away is definitely a break-up anthem about a couple not being the same as they were when they fell in love and eventually that ends. Like Miley sings,
Move on, we're not 17 / I'm not who I used to be / You said that everything changed / You're right we're grown now
