Alexander Wolfe
British singer-songwriter Alexander Wolfe has just released a stirring new track titled Catherine, out now through Dharma Records. I am absolutely in LOVE with this song. My friends know that I am a sucker for sad, melancholy-charged songs and this one is right up my alley. Loving his smooth vocals and the intricate acoustic guitar plucks intertwined with the emotive piano keys instantly caught my attention to this gem.

Alexander is an incredible storyteller and he instantly draws the listener's attention to his love story, from early stages until the very last kiss. Loving the strings section and haunting harmonies that enhance the emotion of the song and gave me goosebumps! I am completely hypnotised and can't stop listening to this gem. If you're into honest, emotionally-charged Folk & Singer-Songwriter music with an enthralling story and lush piano keys, then you will adore Catherine. Check it out below!

Speaking about the track Wolfe explains,
I wrote Catherine a few days after breaking up with my ex. I wanted to tell the story of our relationship from meeting in a bar in Edinburgh to sleeping together, falling in love, growing apart, our last kiss. and the intrinsic link between pain and love. For a while I was a bit uncomfortable with how raw it was, I thought about softening it and changing names, taking the sex out, but in the end I decided to keep it as it was, back then in the eye of the storm when the feelings were fresh. Listening back to it now it feels pretty brutal and exposed, you can hear the defeat in my voice. There's not much use of poetic license in there, it's all pretty much as it happened. I've always loved those bruised romantic records... Jaques Brel, Leonard Cohen etc, I suppose this is my version of that.

It's quite a heavy listen and it's 6 minutes long. The original had 8 verses and was 13 minutes long so you can count yourself lucky.
Catherine is the latest release from Alexander's remarkable upcoming album Little Death which will be released on March 29th.
I've added this gem to my laid-back weekend playlist which you can follow/stream below!
