The song is about the ups and downs of falling and staying in love, reflecting on how all-consuming passion can change as life goes on. I fell in love for the first time in Berkeley, a "drunken kiss on Durant" Avenue. Now after years have passed, this time of year makes me reflect on those days and how my love has matured and grown.
