What drew me towards this song was the lush guitar melody that really set the mood for an intimate setting. I am loving her soulful vocals which stand out over the smooth, stripped back production. I started writing House in the middle of a break up 3 years ago. I was tired of playing pretend and playing this role that was expected of me. I was one the phone with him and told him, "I am just tired of playing house with you" and from there the song was birthed. The next 3 years as people came into my life and left I saw the patterns and I saw the mistakes and lies and became frustrated with how dishonest, defensive, and shallow we all are with our ideas about love.
