Emmi Unveils DIY Video For ‘The Way We Used To’
Following the release of her stunning single Scared Stupid, Aussie/Brit singer-songwriter EMMI is back with another brilliant song called The Way We Used To. I think I have a new favourite song of hers. The song is the 4th track to be taken from Lovers, the first offering from her three upcoming playlists, a tightly-written collection created in LA, London and Hamburg and whose songs explore the confusing, messy world of the modern relationship.

The Way We Used To depicts the year 2 in a relationship where the novelty starts to wear off, she's afraid the best days are behind them and yearns for that excitement of the early days of a relationship. I am in love with her voice in this song and when that raspiness comes out you really feel the words she's singing!

To accompany the release, Emmi unveiled an unofficial DIY music video shot in New York by Nate Wind and edited together with Emmi. Loving her confidence wearing a bright, red superhero cape through the city. The video looks raw and perfectly matches the emotion of the lyrics. I actually think this is a perfect video for this song: it's raw and unfiltered! Watch it below!

Of her unusual fashion choice, she explains,
It was only once the album was finished that I actually sat and listened back to my own lyrics and realised how much I put myself down with my words. How I’ve spent my life looking outside of myself for a saviour. The cape was a reminder that we are all stronger and more brilliant than we know.
