Barbarossa shares new track ‘Thickening Air’
Barbarossa has unveiled his brand new single Thickening Air, taken from his upcoming studio album Lier – due for release on Memphis Industries on March 30th.

This time Mathé finds inspiration in the classic songwriters he’s always obsessed over – Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & young and Brian Wilson to name just a few.  It’s mesmerizing, haunting melody perfectly captures Mathé’s song-writing ability that’s been learned from the greats - transporting you out of the daily grind to escape into a world of Barbarossa’s own. Stream it below!

Lier was written and recorded with Mathé’s producer friend Ghost Culture in Margate with percussion and drumming skills supplied by Joel Wästberg a.k.a. Sir Was and artwork by fellow Margate dweller Tom Vek.  The album is focused on the theme of geographic and personal change.

What unites the songs on Lier are central themes of loss, love and confronting who you are as time moves on and things change within and out of your control.  By the end of the record you are left with the feeling that when things are simplified, they are at their most beautiful.

In March, Barbarossa will head out on tour and take his new record on the road. He will play a run of shows across Europe, including a string of UK dates including a headline show in London on April 19th.
