Stevie King
Newcomer Stevie King has just released his debut single Blue Car. The Ecuador-born, UK-based talent showcases his hypnotic songwriting skills on the yearning and enchanting first release which clearly marks him out as one to watch. To accompany the single he unveiled the official music video for it which you can check out below!

Recorded at London’s Metropolis Studios, the track’s mature and delicately plotted sound – calling to mind the likes of The War On Drugs and Midlake – shows what riches are to come from the 21-year-old. With its restrained riff and the driving rhythm of the chorus, Stevie paints a picture of a life spinning out of control. Recalling its subject matter, he says:
Blue Car’s story is based on this kid who had plenty of family issues which led him to live a life of excess – in alcohol and other substances. As a consequence, it leads to feelings of repression, obsession and anxiety.

A self-taught musician, he has been playing guitar since he was 14, influenced by heroes such as David Gilmour, Jimmy Page and Keith Richards, and also knows his way around the piano and bass.

He is steeped in the traditions of rock classics counting Pink Floyd’s The Wall, Led Zeppelin IV and Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones among his all-time great albums, but also counts the likes of U2’s All That You Can’t Leave Behind and Sting’s live release All This Time among his favourites. He says:
Since I was a child, I’ve always had a passion for music. In my early days as a musician I was member of a Pink Floyd cover band which played various gigs in my home town. We did a pretty decent job paying tribute to my biggest musical influence.”
