Odette Premieres "Watch Me Read You" Video
Odette is a 19-year-old singer songwriter Odette has premiered the visuals for her beautiful single Watch Me Read You, out now via EMI Music Australia. The visuals were directed by Josh Harris. Watch it below!

Odette hails from Sydney’'s inner west and signed to EMI Music Australia at just 17, and has spent the last two years crafting her debut album.

‘Watch Me Read You’ consists of pared-back arrangements, compelling and assertive vocals, and a passionate lyric. Loving that the song is backed by beautiful piano keys, which add even more emotion to the song. Odette explains,
Processing emotion is a common theme throughout a lot of my songs. Music has been a way for me to discuss and kind of analyse emotions and things from a different perspective, rather than just feeling it.”

Her South African mother introduced her to African music, soul, funk and rhythm; while her English father, hailing from a long line of jazz pianists, introduced her to new wave and jazz and passed on his musical talents.

Odette’'s songs are deeply personal and see her move from spoken word into warm, soulful vocals, with arrangements circling soul, jazz and pop. It’s no wonder she’s caught the eye of producers and songwriters including Charlie Hugall (Florence and the Machine, Ed Sheeran, Kaiser Chiefs), Jason Cox (Blur, Gorilliaz, Jamie T), Alex Hope (Troye Sivan, Broods) and Paul Mac (The Dissociatives, Silverchair), all of whom clamoured to work with her over the past year and a half, alongside LA-based, Grammy nominated Damian Taylor (Bjork, The Prodigy, The Killers, UNKLE), who produced her forthcoming album.
