First and foremost I would like to take this opportunity to pay my condolences to all of those that have lost their loved ones due to bullying. As you know this blog isn't just about celebrity gossip & music. I also want to have a voice and raise awareness for issues I consider to be important and can relate. It is my way to help out if someone reads this post I hope it can help. I know how painful being bullied is. You already know about the latest teen suicides that have sprung in the US being the latest Tyler Clementi, 18, and 13-year-old Seth Walsh. These teenagers were victims of sexual orientation bullying and like many bullying victims they ended their own lives. Only those that have been through bullying know how deeply it hurts and the psychological scars that remain for a long time, if not forever. It is hard to stay strong when the ones close to you do not accept who you are, when they do not understand that being gay is not a choice! These young boys are the example that we still have a long way to go to become a more open-minded world. Bullying is a very important issue that needs to be dealt with, but I don't believe it will ever stop. All we need is to find people that support us and help us get through this and get stronger with it. Celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Ciara have opened up about these latest suicides, showing they're deepest sorrows for what happened. A Youtube channel has been created to help those in need, a channel that sends hopeful messages to those that don't have anyone they can count: It Gets Better Project (youtube.com/user/itgetsbetterproject). If you want you can post your message on this channel. Also MTV has created a project, A Thin Line (athinline.org) that provides stories and resources for all that are being cyberbullied. Also you can reach out to The Trevor Project (thetrevorproject.org), an US national 24-hour, toll free confidential suicide hotline for gay and questioning youth. You are not alone, reach out for help even if it means speaking to strangers. Feeling like an outsider and being bullied every single day takes a toll on us, we feel like we're all alone but these projects are here to help us.
