Rubina Ali: For Sale??

O pai de Rubina Ali (menina de 9 anos que entrou no filme Quem Quer Ser Bilionário) tentou vendê-la por 310 mil euros!! O jornal britânico News of the World avançava ontem que Rafiq Qureshi, pai da actriz de 9 anos, defende que a tentativa de vender a filha visava unicamente a garantia do futuro de Rubina, sendo também uma oportunidade de abandonar as favelas de Bombaim, onde vivem. Qureshi foi abordado por um repórter do News of the World e uma mulher (sua suposta mulher), e que se apresentaram como provenientes de uma família rica do Médio Oriente. Este "casal" manifestou interesse pela criança junto do pai da actriz. Qureshi concordou em encontrar-se, indo com o seu cunhado, com o "casal" num hotel em Bombaim. "Estamos interessados em assegurar o futuro da nossa menina. Se está interessado em adoptá-la, podemos discutir esse assunto, mas os pais dela também esperam algo em troca", disse Rajan More, o tio, acrescentando que "agora é uma criança-óscar". A mãe de Rubina exigiu que a criança fosse retirada da casa do pai.

The father of the adorable little Indian girl from “Slumdog Millionaire” tried to sell her following her massive worldwide success. Rubina Ali’s dad Rafiq Qureshi reportedly offered to sell the 9-year old for $300,000 saying he is broke and needs to make money to take care of the rest of his family. Qureshi also added that it was on Rubina's best interest so she could leave the slums of Mumbai. The offer was made by Qureshi in the absence of Rubina’s mother during a sting operation by the British weekly, News of the World, to expose child exploitation in Mumbai. Rubina’s uncle, Rajan More, was present at the meeting. Rubina's mother Khurshida learned from her oldest daughter of the "adoption" and immediately filed a complaint with Indian police.
"My elder daughter had informed me… I did not believe he would actually go through with it," said Khurshida, who left her money-hungry husband in 2001. Read the rest of the story here.

UPDATE: Rubina's father claims that he didn't try to sell her, and that it is all made up by British Newspaper. Still the indian police is investigating the case.
