The overall atmosphere of the song is quite warm, with touches of nostalgia and melancholia, perfect for an introspective day alone, and for a long drive on your summer break.
Speaking about the song, philine said,
Writing ‘josie’ felt like closing an old chapter. I realized I was still holding on to a lot of insecurities, feelings of betrayal and confusion from an old relationship. For the longest time, my ex-girlfriend became the face of the inner critic inside my head. At the time, writing ‘josie’, felt like saying goodbye to her, and like getting the closure I missed. But the more I healed from it and the older I’ve grown, the more I realize how much of what I had experienced as a rejection from her, was also shaped by my own insecurities. Since I can see that, ‘josie’ has gained a deeper meaning to me. Letting go of ‘josie’ also felt a little like letting go of a piece of that inner critic.
