Eighty Ninety Release New Single ‘Yourself’

Eighty Ninety — the indie-pop project of NYC-based brothers Abner (vocals, production) and Harper (guitar, production) James — return with their brand new single Yourself, their first release since their self-titled debut album! 

 

Yourself is a hazy, pulse-pounding, emotionally-charged song that captures the band’s signature blend of indie-pop energy and introspective lyricism. Abner's silky smooth vocals are a pleasure to listen to and they beautifully create such a soothing, comforting touch that won me over from the start. Yourself is a relatable song about the disconnect between two people and how things can deteriorate if we're not giving ourselves to that relationship. A message wrapped around steady guitar riffs nicely intertwined with steady drum patterns and hazy synths that come together to create an overall warm atmosphere perfect for a relaxing, introspective day home alone.

Speaking about the song, Abner said,

'Yourself’ is about the quiet disconnect that can exist between two people, even when they’re physically close — and how easily things slip away when you’re not fully present and when you’re not giving yourself over to something. We tried to capture those small, unnoticed moments that eventually add up, leaving you wondering what exactly you missed along the way until you realize what you missed wasn't 'something'- it was everything.
