Dylan Emmet Shares New Single ‘Promises’
New York-based indie-pop singer, songwriter and producer Dylan Emmet has just shared his brand new single Promises, a lovely pop song about losing yourself in a relationship.
I am a fan of Dylan Emmet's expressive and dynamic vocal delivery which instantly caught my attention to his relatable storytelling. Promises is a song about a breakup and realising your own worth. It shows how even a breakup is an opportunity to self-growth and to realise we deserve better and to not feel broken hearted again. This message is wrapped around a melancholic production packed with intricate acoustic guitars that are nicely paired with filtered drum loops, hints of sub bass and ethereal vocal chips that create an overall warm, emotive atmosphere. Check it out below!
Dylan explains the inspiration behind the track,
“Promises” is about losing yourself in a relationship. With my last ex, I was lost in mine. When after almost a year of dating, she broke up with me in a text message, it sent me down a spiral which led to me finally facing myself and my issues with codependency. In a way, this song saved my life. I’m never again waiting for someone to change or holding out hope for someone’s potential. Writing “Promises” reminded me of my worth and why I don’t ever deserve to feel like that again. All I can hope is now maybe it will do the same for you.”
