Liam O’Brien Shares New Single ‘Flowers’

Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Liam O'Brien has just shared his brand new single Flowers, an R&B-infused piece of pop music taken from his debut EP Higher, out now!

What could be interpreted as a song about a girl, has a different inspiration for the artist. Flowers is Liam's way to show how he is sick of weed being illegal and other things like alcohol being legal. He's got a good point as alcohol can truly ruin one's life as it can make one angrier and more aggressive while weed tends to chill you out. I can understand where he's coming from and how he wraps this message around a fun, upbeat production.

I am a fan of his vocals and the raspy touch that enhances the emotion pouring from his vocal delivery. The production is quite captivating, blending elements of R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop into a memorable, feel-good piece of music. His vocals are definitely what won me over and the overall feel-good atmosphere of the song sealed the deal for me. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Liam said,

Not a song about a girl. I’m sick of weed being illegal, but I’m even more sick of the bullshit arguments. When I was living in Miami, I was living out my college days still. Drinking, partying, barely sleeping, and not that focused. Walked into a studio one day with a 12 pack of beers and the homies I wrote with that day laughed and rolled up a blunt. We drank like 2-3 beers maximum, but the weed fueled our session. Not to say we couldn’t have done it sober…but it set the vibe, and was a lot better without the alcohol. It started to make me wonder why alcohol and weed are on completely separate pages. One can make you sick, one can’t (unless you eat too much?). One can make you angry and aggressive and one chills you out (or at the very worst makes you paranoid). One can kill people, one can’t. Why doesn’t that add up? I wrote this for those who need to hear the other side of the argument they didn’t know they were losing, and for the rest to listen, light up, and smile.
