After the electronic dream-pop of her last single Sleeping Boy, Czech genre-jumping, award-winning alt-pop singer GIUDI serves up the pure trip-hop and lo-fi sound in the new single NoBody (Is Home).
I am loving how smooth and hypnotic this song is, with lush, cinematic strings, expansive electronics and an infectious beat that back her ethereal vocal delivery. NoBody is a song about self-reflection and accepting ourselves and I am really enjoying how GIUDI conveys this message via such soothing electronic production, making me come back to it over and over again. NoBody (Is Home) is such an enthralling listening experience and I love how it instantly gets me in a good mood thanks to its laid-back atmosphere. This lush piece of electro-pop/Downtempo music is accompanied by a striking music video, directed by Jakub Ra, which perfectly enhances the song's message of seeing beauty in the human body and accepting our true selves. Speaking about the song, GIUDI said,
With my new music I want to bring a chill mood with a bit of self reflection. We all are passing through a period that makes us have deeper thoughts about our existence, about our behaviour and its consequences. “NoBody is about the lightness of being. The lyrics have a double meaning. “Nobody is home” - in the sense that your body is only the “container”, a shell for your spirit, which is immortal. Your true identity belongs to some other place, other “home”. In this meaning you perceive your inner-self.Instead “No Body is home” is about your physical body with all its imperfections, about accepting ourselves how we are because it is such a waste of time to make a big deal about your imperfections. I see beauty in the diversity of human bodies and it’s an inspiration to perceive the human body as a white canvas and just play with it.“NoBody” is about the constant process of accepting yourself, the liberation from your physical body and moving your consciousness to higher levels. It is difficult to accept ourselves, to uncover our secrets, to let others see our imperfections or show our vulnerability. I have had enough of the perfect, polished beauty standards so I am showing you my real face. I am showing my dry skin, my swollen legs, acne and cellulite. Let’s be real!
Speaking about the video, Art director and filmmaker Jakub Ra said,
For me, this video is the best collaboration I can imagine. We’re pretty accustomed to working with Giudi, so the video was shot in just one day and 70% was edited at the same night! It was such an intensive work, I love when things are created by intuition because there’s a lot of energy, fun and magic!
