FAMES Drop New Single ‘What Do I Call U? (ex sounds wrong)’
FAMES, the project of Los Angeles-based singers/songwriters/producers Ian Johnson, Wesley Chandler and Blair Heumann, have just shared their brand new single What Do I Call U?(ex sounds wrong), a catchy piece of alt-pop music about how someone changes after going through a breakup.
I am really enjoying the warm and smooth vocal delivery that flows beautifully over the catchy alt-pop production packed with groovy guitar riffs, delicate piano keys, punchy drums and infectious beat. There's somewhat of a retro, 80s synthpop vibe to the song that really got me hooked to it and that chorus is perfect to sing along to. What Do I Call U?(ex sounds wrong) is a song perfect for the radios with honest, relatable storytelling, captivating vocals, cool guitar riffs, a highly infectious pop hook and an overall laid-back, summery atmosphere. Speaking about the song, FAMES said,
It’s just about the drastic change someone goes through when a breakup happens and that person you once held so closely is gone. You no longer know what to call them and it feels like calling them “ex” is like crossing them out of your life forever. Musically the chorus came first and once we understood where the song wanted to go it came together quickly. This is by far our favorite song we’ve released as a band.
