Gola Unveils ‘The Line’ Music Video
London-based, exiled Iranian singer and multi-instrumentalist Gola has just unveiled the powerful video for her debut UK single The Line. The stunning black and white video was directed by creative director and visual artist Hannah Marshall and is an ode to female potency and empowerment. It features several women wearing their hijabs like armour. Gola explains,
I wanted a video that can help women understand how powerful they are. The idea that they can have their eyes covered but still see, or have their mouths covered but still have a voice. This is a video about choice.

Musically this is quite a captivating, powerful piece of Contemporary R&B. I really love her vocals and the moody, atmospheric vibe of the song. The Line was co-written and produced by twenty5 (previously Cash of electronic band Cash+David). Speaking about the song Gola said,
There is always a stage in your life when you say “enough is enough” and you make a change to reclaim your power. The Line is a metaphor that is deeply personal but at the same time I feel that everyone can relate to its meaning. The overriding message is about the power of women, unity and the strength inside each of us. So many women today don’t have the chance to have their voice heard and I feel that I have the responsibility as an artist to be a voice for them, while also staying true to myself.
