Speaking about Never Run Lou said,
I was exploring themes of betrayal and deception when I wrote this. The lyrics are about moving forward and the illusion that the past was safer / better. Musically I wanted to explore a sound that felt like Stevie Nicks with my twist. The song is optimistic despite the acknowledgment of one's flaws and faults. The last line of the last verse captures that optimism: "Hold your dreams out in your hand, scattered heart runs free".
