Fyfe teams up with Iskra Strings on "Hold Us Down"
Fyfe and Iskra Strings have previewed their brand new collaborative project with new track Hold Us Down. This gorgeous piece of alternative music is taken from their upcoming EP, expected later this spring. Stream it below!
Iskra Strings have forged a reputation for working with some of the most exciting musicians recording today, regardless of genre. A loose collective headed by James Underwood, Iskra have collaborated both live and in the studio with Vampire Weekend, The xx and Sufjan Stevens as well as performing with the finest musicians in the contemporary classical world including Olafur Arnalds, Johann Johannsson, Michael Price and Dustin O’Halloran.
Paul Dixon, across his two acclaimed albums as Fyfe and his earlier incarnation as David’s Lyre, has never been afraid to bring classical influences into play alongside his contemporary pop sensibilities. A childhood training in violin, piano and voice add a unique twist to his thoroughly modern approach to songwriting and production.
Speaking about the collaboration Fyfe said,
Having spent the last few years making records alone, working with James helped to open my eyes to the power of collaboration. Reacting in real-time to someone else’s approach to harmony, melody and structure meant there was a real momentum when developing ideas together and a definite release from creative self-consciousness.
