Starling Releases new single "In The Dark"
London's pop singer/songwriter Starling has released her brand new single In The Dark through Distiller Records. The song sounds amazing, super smooth with a groovy melody and an artsy-vibe. However the song has a dark side because it is inspired by a particularly terrifying night in New York when her drink was spiked. She said,
I had a meeting in Brooklyn on the day I arrived in New York. And somewhere my drink got spiked, and the next day I wrote this song. I wasn't hurt or anything but I was totally blown away by the fact my muscles went.

In The Dark is taken from her latest EP The Body and the music video was directed by Director Paulo Berbera. Starling will perform at The Waiting Room on May 9th!

She is an art-obsessed left-field pop practitioner from London whose multi-layered, personality-lead songs draw the listener into a heady world that aims to mix the fantastical with the everyday. While last year's minimalist The Heart EP - which drew acclaim from the likes of Radio 1, Noisey and Clash - quietly introduced Starling to the wider world, it's new four-track EP, The Body, lead by the bluesy stomp of No Rest For The Wicked and inspired by the likes of Sia and Fiona Apple, that really establishes her as a creative force to be reckoned with. She explains,
This EP is way more about coming out of the sadness and into the sex and the drugs and the fun of what it is to be alive. Whether those things are good or bad is irrelevant - it's about coming out of my shell.
