ILana Armida Q&A
Hey guys! Time for an interview! I've had the chance to ask a few questions to Pop/R&B singer ILana Armida so we could get to know her a bit better. She recently released her debut EP Iridescent Flower Child and is making waves with her unique mix of energetic R&B melodies with catchy, soulful pop vocals, with a hint of funk and hip-hop throughout.

You’ve just released your debut EP Iridescent Flower Child. How was the writing process for this album?

My song writing process is always different. Sometimes it takes me 20 minutes to write a song and sometimes it takes me 3 years. I've written to already produced beats before but I also pull melodies out of thin air and work with producers to build around my ideas. It all depends on how I feel and what inspires me. Pretend, This Feeling and Still Down For You were all written or mostly written about a year ago and the rest were all made within 1 week.

How would you describe this EP to your fans?

Iridescent Flower Child is the introduction to who Ilana Armida is as an artist. It is a pretty eclectic project so there is something for everyone. It has everything from a slow, trippy ballad to uptempo pop. The project kind of takes you on a journey through my love life.

Where did you get the inspiration to write such amazing songs?

Everything I wrote on this project was super personal. All from my personal experiences and relationships.

I adore the album and my favourite songs are Pretend, and Sweet Freedom. Out of the songs you’ve already released/written which means the most to you and why?

Thank you!! :) All of these songs mean a lot to me. I think the one that stands out is "Pretend" because I had the idea and most of the lyrics written since 2013 and I finally got to see the song come to life.

What are your musical inspirations?

I am a 90s baby so I was influenced by TLC, Aaliyah, Alanis Morissette, Janet Jackson, and other strong female artists. You can definitely hear the nods to these artists in my music.

What has been the defining moment of your musical career so far?

I think putting out this project is the biggest thing I have done so far and I did it independently which makes it so much more rewarding.

Who’d be your dream collaboration?

Bruno Mars or Andre 3000

If you were given the chance to pick one artist/band to tour with which one would it be and why?

I would be super down to do like an NSync Reunion tour.

Are you planning to tour this year to promote the EP? And are there plans to a tour abroad?

We are in the process of putting together a good show now. I would love to Travel Abroad but no plans to yet.

What music are you currently listening to?

I listen to a bunch of different stuff... right now my favorite songs are F*** With Myself by Banks, Ballad of my Brain by The 1975 and Ocean Drive by Duke Dumont
