Listen To: Devil In You (Sloes)
London-based alternative indie/folk five piece, Sloes, unveil their debut track, entitled Devil In You. This is a rousing, string-infused indie/folk gem, starting with some beautiful guitar and violin work and builds up to reveal a cinematic, soaring finish. They describe the song as:
Devil In You is about having a rush of blood to the head, acting impulsively and writing something spiteful to a lover that can't be taken back - ("Oh the devil in you, chose the words and phrased the verse, that cut, like a severing blow, left your lover cold like stone"). It's about trying to take a step back when you lose your cool and not responding immediately while your blood is up. ("Showing remorse won't change the course, proclaiming your devotion. Your lovers disdain is set like clay, the wheels already in motion".)
This is the first track to come out from their forthcoming Chasing Tails EP out in June.
Sloes first came about when Jerome and Jo started writing together whilst travelling through Colombia. Paul and Luke came on board shortly after, followed by Katie - Jo's little sister, providing violin, and thus bridging the gap between their electric and acoustic intentions.
