Debo Ray Drops New Single ‘Going Down’

Grammy-nominated and award-winning artist, Debo Ray shares her brand new single Going Down, the first single to be taken from her upcoming 4-track EP Echoes and Embers.
Going Down finds the talented artist showcasing her vulnerability and singing about mental health struggles and how she's worked to overcome them. It captures the pain of feeling unseen and emotionally dismissed by someone important to her, eventually leading into a spiral of self-doubt, blame and exhausting. At its core it shows a powerful moment of self-awareness and realising that we should not abandon who we are in the process of seeking love from someone who isn't capable of it.
A relatable, heartfelt storytelling that is flawlessly conveyed through Ray's soulful, passionate vocals which soar beautifully over the captivating blend of alternative/indie r&b and contemporary r&b genres. Apart from her gorgeous vocals, I am particularly fond of the infectious trap-infused beat that is nicely intertwined with lush synths and rock elements that together create an overall warm, soulful listening experience.
Speaking about the song, Debo Ray said,
I wrote this song about one of the darkest points in my life where no matter what I did to survive, it felt like I kept falling lower into my neurosis. And I felt like it was all my own fault. I don’t wish that feeling on anyone, but if that resonates with you, I hope this song helps you release that energy.
