London synth-pop noir duo August have premiered the official music video for their new single Cruel, set to come out on June 15th! This song was mixed by Charlie Hugall (Florence & The Machine, Halsey), and is another burning dark pop anthem featuring their trademark noisy 80’s synths and distorted drums sounds. I ADORE this song so much and those piano keys instantly won me over! Steve's vocals are gorgeous and convey so much emotion!
In the band’s own words,
Cruel is another dark love song, showing how you can adore someone but never know if they are really any good for you. The song speaks of a slightly warped co-dependent relationship, where no matter what happens things stay the same, where even if someone is cruel, "I will always want your love."

August are Steve Hughes (vocals, guitars, production) and Ed Carlisle (drums, production) who met 8 years ago and became a duo after a year of Steve badgering Ed on weekly basis to form a band with him. At that time neither of them had any idea what sort of music they were going to create. Now 7 years on their vision is more of a definite one
We want to make music that makes sense to people who feel restless at night, to those who are disconnected or those who just want to feel something. And we're crazy enough to believe that that's possible.
