Singer-songwriter Alice Jemima has premiered the official music video for her new single, Liquorice, and it is quite a sweet and colourful one! Alice first caught the ear of BBC Radio 1 DJ and Bestival founder Rob Da Bank when she won a competition he ran to write a song in seven hours. Now Rob is set to release Alice Jemima's debut EP Liqourice this June (17th), on his imprint Sunday Best. Liquorice is a summer-ready pop song with hand-claps and an infectious melody.

Jemima says of the song and the video;
Liquorice is a song about trying to please other people, and then drifting off into this imaginary world to try and please yourself. I wrote this at a time when I was putting a lot of pressure on myself. I think women especially feel like they should look a certain way or try to be something else, and I was definitely feeling it that day. The video is a fantastic testament to the song, I instantly fell in love with 2Doors (the directors) vision - it’s vibrant and colourful, slightly weird and quirky and most importantly it's fun and it doesn’t take itself too seriously - which is something I’m a firm believer of :)
The ‘Liquorice’ EP was produced by Jemima & Simon Byrt and the EP title track features Jemima’s sultry sweet vocals, set against a deep rolling bass-line overlaid with synths and drums. Jemima has subsequently worked with producer Roy Kerr (London Grammar, Bloc Party, Foxes) on her forthcoming album later this year. Alice is set to perform on BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend on May 29th!
