Hey guys! I am so excited to introduce you to Bite The Buffalo, a duo of two brothers (Stos and Miti Goneos) that grew up in Zambia! They will release their debut album, Blue Lips, on April 22nd and you can stream it below! Their gritty voices are perfect for the type of music they play! If you appreciate a bluesy stomp rock 'n' roll you will LOVE this album. From the high-energy title track, Blue Lips, perfect for an action-packed movie to other more acoustic and swamp bluesy tracks you will fall in love with their music. I LOVE all tracks off this album but if I had to highlight some tracks I would strongly say you MUST LISTEN to Blue Lips, Dead Of The Night, Jackknife Blues (this is my favourite acoustic/swamp bluesy track of the album,  just amazing guys!), Calamity and Dusty Cage. You can make a movie around this album, just amazing! You can get to know a bit more about them by checking out a Q&A with the brothers after the jump!

Check out my interview with them below!

1. First of all I’d like to congratulate you on the AMAZING single that is Blue Lips. That song has so much energy and attitude! It is absolutely perfect for the soundtrack of an action-packed movie! What was the inspiration when writing/recording this song?
Ah thank you very muchly! I suppose we had that ‘action-packed movie’ idea in our heads when initially writing the riffs... then the lyrics came in to correlate with the theme of the album, a little dark.
2. Is the whole album as bluesy rock ‘n’roll and high energy as the title track? What can we expect from it?
No no... it’s a quite a bi-polar record. Amongst all the rock’n roll’n we’ve thrown in a bevy of acoustic songs which are quite swamp bluesy and lead belly’esc. We’ve also got some creepy fairground organ b-sides to release alongside it soon and all over the album you’ll hear extra instruments creeping threw like mouth organ, synth and beer bottles. We kinda just went with whatever sounds we could conjure up in the garage... and then we just stuck with a cohesive theme so that it all gelled together well.
3. You guys grew up in Zambia!! How was it growing up there and how did it influence your music?
Haha... yeh, it was definitely a little different to what we’re used to now. Growing up there it was real hard to get our hands on new music cos there were no music stores or MTV. We had our family Beatles vinyl’s and one Michael Jackson Hits video tape and that was pretty much it. Then one summer holiday our cousin flew over armed with his Nirvana collection. Hearing music like that for the first time got us two tickets on the freight train to rock’n roll town which landed us here in the UK to see what we could do.
 4. Who are your major musical influences?
Rootsy Blues, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Jack White, The Stones, The Devil Makes Three, Lead Belly, Bob Dylan and Flight Of The Conchords.
5. When did you realize music was what you wanted to do for a living?
Because it’s the best freak’n job in the world! But it took other people to make us realize this... cos in my head I wondered “at what point does this become a job?” even now it still somewhat feels like the exact same thing we were doing together 10 years ago, except now we have an awesome team around us that help keep this crazyness rolling in the right direction. Soon as we can afford to put clothes on our backs and fill the fridge by doing this, we are golden.
 6. What’s the story behind your band’s name ‘Bite The Buffalo’? Who came up with it?
The inspiration for the name hails from a dangerous Zambian drinking game called Buffalo... hence why there is no mental record of why this became the band name.
7. If you were given the chance to pick any band/artist/producer in the world to work with whom would you pick and why?
I’d pick Josh Homme... so we can go to the desert, make a record. And then get him drunk enough to steal all his secrets (and run...)
8. What are your main goals/dreams in music?
To be remembered.
9. Can you tell us which summer festivals are you playing this year? And where would you LOVE to perform?
Aah i’m dying to tell ya but I can’t just yet! I can however confirm we’ll be partying the stage at Grillstock, Bristol May 11th. Beer & BBQ’s... yes! and in other news we have purchased a pair of wellies each, just in case (wink).
10. Name your favourite song of 2013 so far?
The Growlers - Pet Shop Eyes
11. If you could only listen to one artist/band for the rest of your life, who would it be?
John Lennon (if it included all the Beatles stuff too)
12. What artist are you listening to on your iPods?
Tame Impala, The Heavy, The Stone Foxes and the new Bowie stuff.
13. What are the 5 things you couldn’t live without?
1. Sex 2. Music 3. Home Cooked Meals 4. Breaking Bad 5. FIFA 13
